The Classic Mini was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and first appeared in 1959 to great acclaim. Its popularity as a cult car has spanned over 60 years with no sign of abating and there are many enthusiasts today who are devoted followers. For the sporty motorist of the day and for those young drivers seeking speed and an image, the manufacturers introduced the upmarket Mini 1275GT with refinements both under the bonnet as well as the exterior bodywork which included an optional metallic paint job, lots of exterior chrome work and a racy flash along the sides.
Speeding into the 1:76 scale Classic Mini series comes the latest Mini 1275GT in a bright blue, registered ONP 350L from 1972. With black chassis and black interior, the exterior has masses of sparkling silver trim including bumpers, headlights, door handles, wheels and radiator. Broad silver stripes along the sides between the front and back wheel arches incorporate the 1275GT marque. The result looks pretty good and it gives another vibrant splash to your Mini shelf.
